In this recurring column, we highlight a few items we've run across that don't merit a full story of their own but are interesting enough to bring to your attention. This time we look at AP's photos of the week, Reuter's top pictures, the Pure Street Photography Competition, Mississippi Remembers, LensCulture New Discoveries, Select Landscape masking and ChatGPT integration.

  • The Associated Press showcases its Top Photos of the Week curated by photo editor Anita Baca.
  • Reuters posts 25 of its Pictures of the Week from around the world.
  • Grace Ebert features the winners of The Pure Street Photography Competition. "Coincidental timing, uncanny interactions and moments that are stranger-than-fiction figure prominently in the platforms's curation," she writes.
  • Adria R Walker reports on Mississippi Remembers, a photo exhibit that honors Mississippi victims of Hurricane Katrina that hit the Gulf coast 20 years ago. "Melody Golding, a photographer from Vicksburg, aimed to document the tragedy in Mississippi, arriving in the hardest hit part of the state shortly after the storm," she writes. "Her photos captured the almost unimaginable devastation, pain and grief of survivors and resilience of the people of the Magnolia state, who came together to rebuild."
  • LensCulture New Discoveries are exhibited at Photo London in a group show featuring remarkable work by 68 photographers from 24 countries.
  • Julieanne Kost demonstrates how to use Lightroom Classic’s new Select Landscape masking tools to automatically select different regions in photographs including sky, mountains, water, architecture, vegetation, natural ground, and artificial ground:

More to come! Meanwhile, here's a look back. And please support our efforts...
