In this recurring column, we highlight a few items we've run across that don't merit a full story of their own but are interesting enough to bring to your attention. This time we look at Reuters, Simonopetra, Photo London, power houses, Don Pettit and AFP storage.

  • Reuters presents 20 Pictures of the Day for today.
  • Thanassis Stavrakis captures life at Simonopetra, a medieval cliffside monastery.
  • Mee-Lai Stone showcases a variety of images from the 10th Photo London.
  • In Power Houses, Gillian Laub takes a camera inside the living rooms of notable New Yorkers.
  • In One Astronaut, Many Cameras (gift link), Kenneth Chang profiles Don Pettit, NASA's oldest active astronaut, after his fourth trip to space. "Sometimes he set up five cameras at once in the space station's cupola module, where seven windows provide panoramic views of space and Earth," Chang writes.
  • Howard Oakley warns Check Your Network Backups and Shares, as AFP Is Being Removed. 'Given the timing of this announcement, it seems most likely that AFP will be dropped from macOS 16, to be announced early next month at WWDC and released this coming autumn/fall," he writes. "If your Mac can't or won't be upgraded to macOS 16, then it shouldn't lose AFP."

More to come! Meanwhile, here's a look back. And please support our efforts...
