The Week in Review

5 November 2022

There's an art to catching your breath. You have to do it when nothing else is happening. And a lot happened this week.

WE LOST our brother-in-law George Bailey at the age of 88. As his obituary nicely put it:

George took over his family's picture framing business originating in 1899 and was the proud owner and operator of George F. Bailey Picture Framing until his retirement in 2016. He was a masterful woodworker and one of the finest picture framers in Rochester.

We republished an old article we wrote about him on Photo Corners, as well.

We already miss him.

WONDERING WHY we hadn't heard anything from the pharmacy about Cat the Physician's Assistant's order for Dakin's Solution, I logged into Joyce's account to see it had been added to her medication list but not actually ordered.

So I did that. It should take a week. Then we'll go off the Santyl to use the Dakin's Solution for two weeks, as Cat suggested.

Unless the slough starts growing.

LAST AND LEAST (for that matter), we heard from Nikita at Kaiser after we faxed her the final notice billing for $21K from Dignity Health.

"Disregard it," she said.

It was, as I suspected, an automatic billing no mere human could prevent from being delivered. Uh huh.

Nikita looked up the account and found the balance to be zero.

Still, if that was only the first half of the treatments, I have a feeling we aren't done yet.

WHENEVER WE WOULD get up to leave, George would protest, "Don't go!"

Sometimes it worked and we stayed. When we heard he had passed away, we thought we'd try it ourselves.

But only he had that kind of magic. Bless you, brother.
