We've just archived Volume 13, Number 12 of Photo Corners on the Archive page with 15 Features, 8 commented News stories, 25 Editor's Notes (which included 146 items of interest), no reviews and two site notes for a total of 51 stories.

Of those, 14 stories included 110 images, we celebrated two holidays and marked one passing.

OUR READERSHIP NUMBERS are more than slightly skewed this month by an attack from Meta that started on Dec. 7, as we reported on Dec. 18, when we were notified we'd used up our allotted bandwith for the month.

But Sonic graciously agreed to waive the extra bandwidth charges as we tried to block Meta from downloading the site repeatedly every day.

It took us a while. Facebook ignored our robots.txt disallow directive. But finally we found some information at Meta Web Crawlers which identified the right bot name to disallow and provided an email address to direct our "concerns."

The Sonic FTP server that used to monitor bandwidth consumption for us was retired earlier in the year. A combination of factors that escaped our notice. But we've since rewritten our monitoring code in Perl to run locally every morning using a Keyboard Maestro cron trigger.

OUR MOST READ STORIES, however, are still detectible. And topping the list was our ExifTool Installer story with the code to easily install Phil Harvey's ExifTool on modern versions of macOS.

Following that was our story on the winner of the Bob & Diane Fund with the accompanying slide show.

IF YOU'D LIKE TO REVIEW 2024, visit our 2024 headline page with complete headlines from all the stories we published last year. That's a month early again this year.

Two Around The Horns preceded the Big Picture Contest announcement to round out the top five.

THROUGH THE COURSE of the year, we keep the last two months on the home headline page and don't duplicate headlines on the year headline page but we're duplicating them this month so you can see the year in review.

We also updated our Highlights thumbnails for the entire year.

And you can also review the people we lost last year. Just click on the Remembering... link and then on the year.

YOU HAVEN'T LOST us yet but with three brain bleeds and six months of double vision in 2024, it was close. Early in the year we'll chat with our neurologist about what surgeons like to call "intervention." If we need brain surgery, things will be quiet around here for a while as we, presumably, recover.

And if we don't, well, we've enjoyed putting out Photo Corners for you six days a week for over 12 years and hope you've enjoyed it just as much.
