This heart can be found at French Hospital in San Francisco's Richmond District. The hospital is now a Kaiser campus with its own pharmacy and various services, including Kaiser's Memory Care Clinic.
We snapped this shot one sunny day with an iPhone 6 Plus. We'd taken Joyce for a late morning appointment at the Sleep Apea Clinic where she was fitted with a device to wear overnight. It turned out it kept her awake all night, negating the test.
Not that we were free of concern, going to the pharmacy for some NeilMed sinus rinse packets. They were all the rage in 2023. Didn't help us, though.
This year we will see a lot of hearts at Joyce's nursing facility because the staff decorates extravagantly for every holiday. A month before, actually.
There are countless paper hearts hung from the ceiling fixtures, twisting in the air flow from the heater vents up there.
But we will bring our photo of this bright red thing from another time to our Valentine. And hope it wins a smile.
